Wycombe got back to winning ways today after last weeks defeat to Chesterfield people were asking the question are Wycombe good enough to win League Two and they answered those questions in dramatic fashion today in a 7 goal thriller at Rotherham, this game had everything great football, seven goals and end to end stuff, this is why it is the beautiful game.
Wycombe came to the Don Valley Stadium with a point to proof after Last Weeks Defeat to Promotion chasing Chesterfield who remain top of League Two. Today’s game was a make or break game against fellow Title chasers Rotherham who remain third despite this defeat at the hands of Wycombe whom themselves lie sixth.
Wycombe started in emphatic fashion racing into a two goal lead with goals from Kevin Betsy (9 min) and a wonderful individual goal from Matt Bloomfield in the (18 min) with a shot from 20 yards.
But anyone who thought this game was over were sadly mistaken as Rotherham struck back with a neatly taken goal from Adam Le Fondre in the 22nd min, before Jason Taylor struck the equaliser in the 39th minute.
However the comeback was short-lived as Wycombe got their heads in front again just on the stroke of half-time through Ben Strevens which kept both sets of fans debating the outcome of the tie at full-time.
The second-half began with the home side pushing for the equaliser and were rewarded in the 66 minute when Le Fondre grabbed his second of the game courtesy of a penalty.
But the scoring wasn’t finished there as both teams pushed for the winner in the remainder of the game and it was the visitors who got it when Scott Rendell slotted home a penalty in the 84th minute to give Wycombe all three points to a rapturous applause from the visiting Chairboys fans.
Next up for Wycombe is a home game to League Two strugglers Lincoln City.
