This is the latest advertisement for the release of the new Adidas created Spain jersey. Now that Spain are World Champions, they have a lot to live upto on the international stage. With that, they need a jersey that matches their ambitions. The jersey is very similar to the one used in South Africa.

adidas launches the new Spanish Football Federation jersey that will take our players to the UEFA EURO 2012™ in the qualifying games. As a new and special element, this jersey carries the badge that FIFA has conferred today on the Spanish Football Federation as 2010 FIFA World Champions.

New Chelsea Third Jersey

Chelsea third stripChelsea have released a very interesting new third jersey in a green macaw color for the 2010/11 Premier League season. The interesting design includes a vertical navy stripe that runs down the front of the jersey, with a very thin Chelsea blue line that runs right down the middle for added detail.

To be honest, right now I neither love it or hate it! I guess this is one that I will have to see players wearing out on the pitch to make an opinion about.

As for the scientific part, the shirts feature adidas ClimaCool technology, a mixture of heat and moisture controlling materials, ventilation channels and 3D fabrics which improve air flow to the skin.

New Manchester United Home Jersey

I am ready to order up a new jersey, and the Manchester United home jersey is top of my list! There are several major change ups to the jersey, with the major one being the introduction of new shirt sponsor AON. The design takes an old school approach, looking more like something you would see George Best wearing than Wayne Rooney. And it is a while since we have seen a collar on a United jersey!
Nike released the jersey a few weeks back, and it available now to buy. Here is some follow up information that Nike sent us over:

NIKE, Inc. has launched the new Manchester United club kits showcasing a new design approach intended to maximize performance while minimizing environmental impact. The kits highlight Manchester United’s unique heritage with traditional graphics, while incorporating lightweight design and recycled fabric.

The new kits reflect the design innovation and premium detailing demanded by football’s elite players. A combination of renewable fabric sourcing, new design aesthetic and numerous nods to Manchester United’s rich history set a new standard for the club uniforms.

For the first time in the club’s history, the new shirts are made entirely from recycled polyester, with each shirt directly produced from up to eight plastic water bottles found at waste disposal sites in Japan and Taiwan. The bottles are thoroughly cleaned, reduced to tiny flakes, melted into a yarn and spun for kit fabrication. This new manufacturing process reduces energy consumption by up to 30% compared to manufacturing traditional polyester.

With the new manufacturing process, Nike has saved nearly 13 million plastic water bottles, a total of around 254,000 kg of polyester waste that can take up to 500 years to naturally decompose. Every recycled bottle used to make these kits laid from top to bottom would cover over 3,000 kilometers, or 29 football pitches.

The kits allow players to maintain their optimum body temperature and perform at their peak on the pitch by helping keep them dry and cool. The new Nike Dri-FIT fabric, 13% lighter than previous kits, helps to quickly evaporate moisture by drawing it to the surface to enhance breathability by up to 7% more than previous versions. The innovative ventilation zones along each side of the jersey, below the waistband and near the base of the spine on the shorts, significantly increases air penetration to keep players cooler.

New US Soccer Jersey Revealed

U.S. National Team head coach Bob Bradley was on hand with USA’s 1950 FIFA World Cup captain Walter Bahr to unveil the new U.S. Men’s National Team Home New US Soccer JerseyKit this morning.  The kit (along with those of Brazil, Portugal and the Netherlands) is the most environmentally-friendly and technologically advanced kit in soccer history.

For the first time, all of Nike’s national teams will be wearing jerseys made entirely from recycled polyester, each one produced from up to eight recycled plastic bottles. To make the 2010 national team kits, Nike’s fabric suppliers sourced discarded plastic bottles from Japanese and Taiwanese landfill sites and then melted them down to produce new yarn that was ultimately converted to fabric for the jerseys. By using recycled polyester for its new range of national jerseys, Nike prevented nearly 13 million plastic bottles, totaling nearly 254,000 kg of polyester waste, from going into landfill sites, nearly enough to cover the entire coastline of South Africa. Team and professional uniforms are also available for customization.
