Leicester Sack Eriksson, O’Neill Favourite to Take Hotseat
Leicester City have confirmed the sacking (by mutual consent?) of former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson after the Foxes won just two of their last seven games their latest defeat coming against Millwall 3-0 at the week-end seemingly the result which broke the camels back so to speak. And already former Foxes boss Martin O’Neill is favourite to take up the hotseat he left in 2000 for Celtic, with the Filbert Street Thai owners ready to spend whatever it takes to bring the Foxes to a return to the promised land(Premier League). O’Neill has been out of football for over a year after walking out on his Aston Villa post after their chairman refused to back up his intentions of bringing Villa to the next level with a decent transfer kitty.

Martin O’Neill Resigns From Aston Villa
In an astonishing and unexpected move, Martin O’Neill has resigned as manager of Aston Villa. The 58-year-old Northern Irishman announced his decision in a joint statement with chief executive Paul Faulkner on the club website www.avfc.co.uk.
“I have enjoyed my time at Aston Villa immensely. It’s obviously a wrench to be leaving such a magnificent club” O’Neill said.
One can only wonder what sparked the decision, seeing as O’Neill has had 4 successful years at the club. He has had three sixth-place league finishes and led Villa to their first final in 10 years — a 2-1 League Cup defeat to Manchester United. It is thought that Aston Villa’s decision to sell James Milner vexed the ex-Leister and Celtic boss so much that he couldn’t stay at the club, although nothing about the incident was mentioned at the press conerence.
At the end of last season, speculation was rife that O’Neill was set to resign because Villa did not match his ambition to force a place into the top four of the Premier League.
O’Neills record at Aston Villa:
Benitez Given Golden Handshake to Leave Anfield
After spending six years at the helm of Liverpool Football Club and after many boardroom tussles with American co-owners, Tom Hicks and George Gillett, Benitez has finally been shown the door at Anfield.
His golden handshake was £6m, despite him having agreed a 5 year contract in March of last year. The final straw was Liverpool’s abysmal Premier League finish of 7th, their worst finish since the Premier League was introduced.
After a Fairytale start to his Liverpool managerial career where he won the Champions League in 2005 in his first year in charge. It all went wrong after that, with only a Super Cup and F.A Cup the year after to show for his six years in charge, most clubs would be happy with that, but not a big club like Liverpool.
So where now for the Anfield Club, Martin O’ Neill, Roy Hodgeson and Kenny Dalglish are the front runners with the latter taking control of first team duties until a permanent replacement for Benitez in place.
Roy Hodgson looks the most likely predecessor after guiding Fulham to the Europa Cup Final last season, losing to Atl.Madrid who beat Liverpool in the Semi- Finals. While Martin O’Neill might be wiser to stay at Villa Park after his team finished above Liverpool this season.
Whoever takes over will have to assemble a team on a shoe string transfer budget as the club try to claw back their substantial debts.
