Yesterday Sir Alex Ferguson had his say, today it was Wayne Rooney.
In what is sure to add extra fire to the anger towards the Glazer ownership of Manchester United, Rooney released a statement saying it was the future direction of the team that is the reason behind his decision. After talking with David Gill, Rooney believes the team can not draw the high caliber players that are needed for the club to continue being successful. His fear is that the ambitions of the club has faltered and as a result he wants out.
Rooney also praised Sir Alex Ferguson and stated that “He is a great manager and mentor who has helped and supported me from the day he signed me from Everton when I was only 18. For Manchester United’s sake I wish he could go on forever because he’s a one-off and a genius.”
I have a very funny feeling that Rooney’s statement is going to intensify the fight currently in place by MUST, who have been so vocal in recent months about the Glazer’s.
