Barcelona dominate El Clasico and come away with a comprehensive 5-0 win over Real Madrid. It was billed the battle of superstars Messi and Ronaldo – but it turned into the Barcelona show.

David Villa bagged 2 goals, Xavi, Pedro and Effran with the other strikes. Needless to say Ronaldo was left a frustrated figure and almost got a second yellow in the final two minutes after losing possession in the corner and kicking out.

Things did get heated in the final minute when Sergio Ramos swung viciously on Messi - receiving a deserved red card. Thankfully Messi got up and walked away after the challenge.

These guy’s promised so much but we seen so little of their abilities we are so used to seeing from them. Fatigue has been blamed as they have all had long hard season’s but then again so have the likes of the aging Arjen Robben and the mercurial Wesley Sneijder but they have shown what they can do.

In my opinion these guy’s who failed to produce the goods weren’t to tired or injured they just couldn’t live up to the hype and expectations the soccer world burdened them with. Here’s a look at my top 5 flops of the 2010 World Cup Finals.

CRISTIANO RONALDO: The golden boy of Portuguese soccer was only a shadow of the player we have seen in the past three seasons. Scored only one goal against mighty North Korea sorry for been so sarcastic but in fairness he only scored one goal in a seven goal rout. In hindsight maybe his mind was more occupied on becoming a first time dad than a first time World Cup Winner.

LIONEL MESSI: Definitely the best player in the world at present but failed to show his ability. He only showed us glimpses of his wizardly and he also failed to score in the tournament. Maybe the huge expectations he was burdened with got to him who knows.

SAMUEL ETO: After winning the Champions League with Inter Milan, I expected him to light up the tournament in Africa but he failed to perform. Maybe Cameroon legend Roger Milla was right when he accused Eto of not putting in the same effort for his Country as he does for his club.

WAYNE ROONEY: Rooney was the biggest flop of the lot as was the whole England team in my opinion. Rooney was expected to take the Golden Ball aswell as win the World Cup for his Country on his own but the expectations were to high for him to reach. He may have been missing his young son Kai one things for sure it wasn’t the same Wayne Rooney who mesmerised Premier League defences last season.

FERNANDO TORRES: Torres was unbelievably poor maybe it was his fitness after being out for a lot of the season through injury. He didn’t look like a player that was worth £100m the fee Liverpool have put on his signature. Will be out for at least three months after pulling hamstring in the World Cup Final and may find it hard to come back from this set-back.

German player’s earned over £80,000 bonus money each after their win over Argentina in the Quarter – Finals.

After backing the U.S.A, England and Brazil for the World Cup Mick Jagger brought his bad luck to Argentina as he punted on them to win it.

After hammering England in the World Cup the cheeky Germans have started a TV ad campaign to boost their sales of their version of Jaffa Cakes in the U.K.

Fans having been making replica World Cup trophies out of almost anything but this took it to a different level. Authorities at Colombia’s Bogota International Airport say they found a replica of the trophy on it’s way to Spain which was made from 11kg of cocaine.

England will have to find a new sponsor after Nationwide pulled the plug on renewing their sponsorship after their nightmare World Cup campaign. Nationwide had been funding the team for almost 11 years.

Brazil have confirmed the sacking of coach Dunga after their defeat to the Dutch in the Quarter-Finals.

Argentina manager is set to step down as manager after their humiliating 4-0 defeat to Germany.

Uruguay’s saviour Luis Suarez will play in the teams final World Cup match whether it is the Final or the 3rd place play-off.

Cristiano Ronaldo will be sacked as Portugal captain after he criticised manager Carlos Queiroz during their World Cup defeat to Spain. He also was seen to have spat at a camera when leaving the pitch.

And finally Nicolas Anelka has been told by new French management that he will never be picked for the National team ever again.

Cristiano Ronaldo has announced he has become a father and a single dad to booth. The Real Madrid winger is refusing to name the mother of his son though.

Ronaldo who failed to produce the goods in South Africa and his girlfriend Irina Shayk who is not the mother posted messages on Facebook revealing that he is going to bring up the child himself.

Ronaldo tweeted: “It’s with great joy and emotion that I inform I have recently become a father to a baby boy. As agreed with the baby’s mother, who prefers to have her identity kept confidential, my son will be under my exclusive guardianship.

Ronaldo who captained Portugal in South Africa is said to be over the moon with his son’s arrival, the only question now is who will spit the dummy first. Portugal were knocked out in the second round of the World Cup by Spain and after the game Ronaldo was seen to have spat at the camera’s as he walked off the field in what he says was an act of frustration and disappointment. Now that he has become a Dad maybe we will see a much maturer person but I doubt that very much.

Anyway good luck to them both.
