When Kuyt attempted the bicycle -kick he seemingly came down heavily on his shoulder, pulling ligaments in his shoulder in doing so.

It comes as a major blow for both club and Country as the Dutch are already without Winger Arjen Robben and striker Robin Van Persie for the tie against Finland tomorrow night.

While Liverpool need all hands on deck if they are to stay in contention for a Champions League place next season.

Maybe Kuyt can get lessons from former Manchester United striker Erik Nevland on how to perfect a bicycle-kick from this video below.

Fletcher made his debut for the Scots in 2003 and scored his first International goal in his second game, coming off the bench to score the winner against Lithuania, securing Scotland’s place in the Euro 2004 Play-Offs.

Fletcher was named Scotland captain in November 2009 and has been an influential player for Scotland since making his debut in 2003.

Scotland’s Assistant manager Peter Houston paid tribute to Fletcher saying:

“It’s a huge honour for him to be captain of his Country and at this early age getting his 50th cap. So great credit to him and we are delighted for him. We still feel that he does a smashing job for his Country. He plays consistently well for the side.

“One thing Darren has shown for Scotland is that he’s always here and fully committed.”

Fletcher will become the second Scottish player to pass a major milestone, after defender David Weirbecame Scotland’s oldest capped player on Friday night.

Former Hull City midfielder Geovanni (Deiberson) helped lift his new team, the San Jose Earthquakes, to an impressive 2-1 win over Houston Dynamo on Sunday. The little Brazilian is the first designated player to ever sign with San Jose, and he is already proving a hit with fans as he got an assist on the first goal while scoring the winning goal on 64 minutes.

Quakes coach Frank Yallop rolled the dice and handed Geovanni his first MLS start and the designated player made his impact felt immediately. In the 6th minute, the Brazilian playmaker received the ball near midfield and raced 35 yards past several Dynamo players. Near the edge of the box, he sent the ball to the penalty spot where Khari Stephenson slotted home calmly to put San Jose up 1-0.

In the 64th minute, against the run of play, the Quakes capitalized on a counterattack. Brandon McDonald fed the ball into the box, where Cornell Glen laid the ball back to Geovanni, who finished easily to put the Quakes ahead for good.

The win cements San Jose’s 6th place position, and leaves them in with a fighting chance to reach the playoffs. It will be interesting to see how much more of an impact Geovanni will have for the rest of the season and if he can lead the team to the 4th place position.

Wayne Rooney has been busted by the Sunday News of the World as being a cheat.

Rooney allegedly bedded a £1,200 hooker in June last year after they met at a Manchester Casino, while drinking with family friends and team-mate Rio Ferdinand.

What makes it worse is Rooney’s Wife Coleen was pregnant for their first child Kai while he had his seedy romps with hooker Jenny Thompson.

Rooney allegedly bedded her at a favourite 5 star celebrity hotel, begged her to join him while on tour with Manchester United, had a pal pay her when he forgot to bring money for their romps and romped with her at a team party.

Rooney is no stranger to hooker controversy, as in 2004 he was caught paying for sex at a run-down Liverpool massage parlour when he bedded a 48 year-old Grandmother nicknamed the “Auld Slapper”.

Hooker Jenny Thompson also revealed Rooney rarely talked about football but remembers when at a team function when Cristiano Ronaldo walked past them Rooney muttered fucking wanker.

Rooney’s Wife Coleen may not be so forgiven of her Husband second time around and Rooney looks set to be out on his ear on this occasion, especially as the timing of his sordid affair was while the couple were expecting their first child Kai.

Rooney will also face the wrath of Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson who is known to be a strict disciplinarian when it comes to Private life’s of his players. Only weeks ago Fergie warned Rooney about his behaviour after he was pictured smoking while out on the town with Wife Coleen and Friends.

No wonder Rooney’s form for both club and country has been dismal , he must have known this story was about to hit the headlines as all sordid personal situations do when your under the spotlight.

Liverpool team-mates from past and present including Steven Gerrard, Joe Cole, Michael Owen, Luis Garcia, Emile Heskey, Danny Murphy and Jerzy Dudek turned out for Carragher’s big day.

Gerrard, given dispensation by Fabio Capello after featuring in England’s 4-0 victory over Bulgaria on Friday, played the opening 10 minutes before being replaced by Murphy. Manchester United striker Owen was greeted with boos and cheers from the crowd of 35,631 as some fans showed their displeasure at his move to Liverpool’s arch rivals.

Luis Garcia opened the scoring after being set up by Cole, then Carragher scored from the penalty spot after Owen’s shot hit Jose Baxter on the arm. In the second half Cole volleyed in his first goal at Anfield from Ryan Babel’s cross and reserve team striker Nathan Eccleston fired home the fourth. In between Carragher fouled James Vaughan and, in a bizarre bid to score for his childhood team, took Everton’s penalty himself. He shot past Brad Jones, making his first appearance in a Liverpool shirt after signing last month from Middlesbrough, to give Everton their consolation goal.

Matt Bloomfield had given the visitors the lead in the 67 minute, the first goal Accrington had conceded all season in the League. But Wycombe were then guilty of not putting the game out of reach as they missed several chances to double their lead, which they were punished for when Accrington sub Boulding equalised in the fourth minute of injury- time to break Wycombe hearts.

Wycombe now find themselves in 9th place with one win against Morecambe and four draws against Stockport , Oxford , Northampton, and Accrington Stanley

Wycombe manager Gary Waddock was less than happy with his teams failure to grab all three points saying:

“We have got ourselves into the position to pick up three points and have been unable to do that for the second week. It wasn’t professional enough, totally unprofessional and it has resulted in us just picking up a point.

This is a very difficult place to come to and they are a good side. But I thought we coped with them well. We had two or three opportunities to double our lead but were unable to take them he added.”

Next up for Wycombe is a home tie against Macclesfield who themselves have only managed to pick up two points so far this season. Wycombe must be a cert for all three points in this tie!
