It’s a customary thing now for a Major Championship Finals to have their own Official Match Ball, a thing which can sometimes disrupt a Major Finals, remember the 2010 World Cup Ball “The Jabulani”? Nevertheless the Euro 2012 Finals match ball should kick-off without a fuss.

Like the Jabulani this ball has it’s own Official name “The Tango 12″.
The classic Tango design was formerly used in Major Championships in the 1980′s primarily the Wold Cup and European Championship finals.

Each of the 32 panels which are the make up of the ball also have grip texture covering which enhances ball control. (As if the likes of Iniesta, Xavi or Ronaldo need such help in that department!)

While we hope there’ll be little rain at the tournament Adidas have covered that prospect with an inner woven carcass which reduces water intake while also keeping normal air retention.

An analysis by Footy-boots.com have revealed that coloured boots have topped the EPL scoring charts so far this season, no surprise there then given the outrageous colours on offer to the top brass these days.

White boot wearers like Robin Van Persie (Adidas Predators), Edin Dzeko (Adidas F50 ), Mario Balotelli (Nike CTR360 Maestri II ), Yakubu (Nike CTR360 Maestri ) and Daniel Sturridge (Adidas F50 ) have racked up 43 goals between them already this season up to today wearing white boots, however white boots haven’t helped Wayne Rooney’s scoring touch with the Manchester United striker grabbing just 1 goal before today out of his nine scored this season so far, with the other eight scored in blue (Nike T90 Laser ).

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero Puma V1.10) should go back to the original black boots having averaged two goals a game in black compared to one goal every two games in his new green boots.

QPR’s Heidar Helguson is the top scorer in black boots, scoring six times in his (Adidas blackouts).

Manchester City winger Adam Johnson (Nike Superfly) tops the scoring charts in yellow boots with 5 goals.

Bolton striker Ivan Klasnic (Adidas F50) has been scoring on and off the pitch of late is top scorer in purple boots with 6 goal’s so far this season.

Footy-boots.com’s analysis also suggest that wearing red boots could see you sent off quicker than any othe coloured boot, with Wigan’s Mohamed Diame (Adidas Adipure IV) and West Brom’s Youssouf Mulumbu (Nike T90) at risk of being dismissed in their preferred colour of red boots.

Green boots worn by Manchjester City’s Yaya Toure (Puma V1.11), Sergio Aguero and Stoke’s Matthew Etherington (Puma V1.11) are more likely to pick up a fair play award than been hauled up in front of the FA disciplinary committee. Maybe Wayne Rooney and Luis Suarez should take heed!

I had the opportunity to head to New York this past week to check out the all new Nike T90 Laser IV. Nike did a pretty awesome job, giving us a full presentation of the boots technology, followed by the opportunity to actually test out a pair on one of the oldest soccer pitches in New York (the Met Oval in Queens). As well as testing the boots, we got to use the new Seitiro soccer ball – the same one used in the EPL and La Liga.

In order to test them, Nike put us through several drills including an accuracy challenge, some long shots and then an 11 vs 11 match.
