The 2014 World Cup draw will be drawn today, but do we really know how the draw for Brazil will work, here’s a brief summary of how it will pan out.
World Cup Draw Summary:
Europe
Their will be nine European Groups drawn with the winners qualifying automatically, while the runners up will play-off for the remaining four places, one of the Groups will have only five Group teams with only the top team qualifying from that Group hence the eight runners-up places.
Africa
Africa have places up for grabs for the World Cup Finals, after a preliminary round, 40 teams will contest ten Groups of of four teams each.
Asia
Asia have four automatic places available for the Finals with one Country going on to play a inter-continental play-off. The initial Groups will be made up of 10 of 43 Countries making two Groups with the winners and runners-up automatically going to the Finals, while the third placed Countries will play-off for the Intercontinental play-off spot.
CONCACAF
The CONCACAF Federation have 3 automatic places up for grabs, three qualifying rounds will leave six teams from 35 to face off on a league basis, with the top three qualifying automatically while the fourth place Country go into a Intercontinental play-off.
Oceania
11 Countries will play preliminary games to determine a Group of four with the winners going into a Intercontinental play-off.
South America
South America have four automatic places up for grabs with hosts Brazil already in the Finals, nine Countries will play in one Group with the top four qualifying automatically for the Finals with the fifth place Country going into a Intercontinental play-off match-up.
