There was tears, riots and despair as Argentine side River Plate were relegated to the second tier of Argentine football for the first time in their 110 year history, as Belgrano beat them 3-1 on aggregate. However in disgraceful scenes the Belgrano players were attacked by River Plate fans as they fleed the pitch.
