Their was to be no fairytale Epsom Derby win for the Queen owned Carlton House as he was beaten into third place by Treasure Beach second trained by Aiden O’ Brien and the winner Pour Moi who came from last to first to give French trainer Andre Fabre his very first Epsom Derby success.
The winner was ridden by 19 year old Mickael Barzalona who nearly made the biggest Derby goof when punching the air in delight a few yards before the finishing line.
