It’s been nearly 16 years since “The Scorpion Kick” was introduced to the game and it was no surprise that it was mad-cap Colombian keeper Rene Hiquita who invented it.
Hiquita performed his now famous skill at wembley in an International friendly between Colombia and England in 1995. However it’s not the only memories we have of this keeper who more often than not thought he was a sweeper, something Cameroon striker Roger Milla exploited in the 1990 World Cup Finals when he dispossessed Hiquita before tapping into an empty net in the last 16 in Italy.
