Real Madrid have had an initial bid for former strikerRuud Van Nistelrooy rejected by Hamburg.
Real boss Jose Mourinho wants Van Nistelrooy to bolster his ailing attacking options in a bid to claw back the four points they find themselves behind rivals Barcelona in La Liga at the moment.
Van Nistelrooy only left the Bernabeu last January to link up with Hamburg having scored 46 goals in 68 games for the Galacticos, Van Nistelrooy still has the goal-scoring touch scoring 11 goals in 27 game for his current employers Hamburg.
