Ajax captain Luis Suarez had been banned for two games by the club after biting Otman Bakkal on the shoulder at the weekend during their tie with PSV.
Suarez bite Bakkal after Bakkal stood on his foot after a dust-up in the middle of the park.
But he has now been given a domestic 7 match ban by the Dutch Federation, however he will be allowed to play in the Champions League tie against AC Milan in December.
The ban seems severe compared to the 5 game ban which Sebastion Sansoni got in 2007 when he bite Roy Beeren’s nose in a Dutch League game.
Suarez became a Uruguayan hero in the Summer when he was sent-off for handling a certain Ghana goal in the last minute of their World Cup Quarter-Final tie, Ghana missed the consequent Penalty and Uruguay went on to win the penalty shoot-out.
