A week is a long time in Football, on Saturday Afternoon Arsenal looked to be cruising to a 2-0 victory over London rivals Spurs a result which would have seen them top of the EPL this week. Instead they lie in third spot two points behind Manchester United and Chelsea after Spurs pulled off a Shock 3-2 win over their London Rivals.
On Tuesday night they lined up for Champions League duty and were top of Group H, but they were again stunned when the home-side Braga scored two late goals which helped the Portuguese side go second in the Group leaving Arsenal third and in serious trouble of missing out on the latter stages of the competition, a win in the Gunners final Group game is a must where they have Group whipping boy’s Partizan Belgrade to play at the Emirates in two weeks time.
And to make matters worse skipper Cesc Fabregas had to be substituted mid-way through the second-half after aggrevating his troublesome hamstring injury which could see the midfielder miss the final Group H tie with Partisan. Emmanuel Eboue will certainly miss the tie after damageing his Medial Knee Ligament, which could see him sidelined for up too a month heaping more pressure on an already injury hit squad.
Things will be alot worse if the Gunner’s fail to grab all three points against Aston Villa at Villa Park this week-end, but you don’t know which Villa team will turn up the one which should have beaten Manchester United or the one which was trounced by Newcastle United, only time will tell but one sure thing is the Title race is certainly heating up.
