In what can only be described as one of the most turbulent weeks in Sir Alex Ferguson’s time at Manchester United, Wayne Rooney has sensationally put pen to paper and signed a new 5 year deal.
Over the past week, Rooney has gone from telling the media he was not going to resign for Manchester United as he felt there was no ambition, to apologizing and telling the fans it will be his performances where he will try win them back over. Rooney’s form over the past few months – since March – has been no where near his top level. Ferguson confirmed this morning that he is carrying an ankle injury and will be out for another 3 weeks. He also told the media that Rooney had apologized and was ready to move on.
Speculation had been high that Rooney would end up at either Man City or Chelsea, both of which would have appalled United fans. Only yesterday, fans had to be removed after staging a protest outside of Rooney’s home.
