Alex Ferguson today confirmed that striker Wayne Rooney Wants to Leave the club and denies their was a falling out between the pair as suggested by the media.
Ferguson also confirmed Rooney will not play in Wednesday’s Champions League tie against Bursaspur after the striker had to be stretchered off the training ground with an ankle injury, he didn’t reveal whether it was the same ankle that Rooney denied was injured in an interview after England’s draw with Montenegro last week.
Ferguson hopes he can convince his star-player to stay at Old Trafford and if he can’t convince him to stay it is widely expected that Fergie will replace Rooney with Liverpool striker Fernando Torres for £50m.
And although the club are debt ridden Fergie could sell the idea to the Glazer’s telling them that the revenue made on the Torres signing would double the transfer fee paid for the Spanish Striker.
And with Torres looking more and more like a player wanting away from Anfield, it may benefit United to approach the player now a Liverpool will want to sell,as the player’s value is dropping with every passing day as Liverpool struggle to get results in the EPL.
