It was the Cristiano Ronaldo show last night as Real thumped Racing Santander 6-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu to reclaim top spot in La Liga from bitter rivals Barcelona who beat Real Zaragoza 2-0 with another awesome Lionel Messi performance.
Ronaldo grabbed a brace before half-time in this one sided affair with Gonzalo Higuain gettinng the opener for the Galactico’s in the tenth minute before Ronaldo added his first five minutes later and his second came in the 27th minute giving Real a 3-0 half-time lead.
The second-half began in similar fashion as Real attacked in numbers, with Ronaldo getting his hat-trick just two minutes into the second-half before grabbing his fourth goal of the game from the penalty spot after winger Angel Di Maria was fouled in the box in the in the 55th minute.
It was 6-0 to Madrid asthe impressive German midfielder Mesut Ozil scored a wonderful goal after one of his mazy runs through the Santander defence. There was still time for another goal as Santander grabbed a consolation goal after a goalward shot was deflected into the net.
With Ronaldo in this sort of form you couldn’t bet against him claiming back his World Player of the Year award from Lionel Messi this year.
