Barcelona and Spain striker David Villa has sent to signed shirts to the 33 Chilean miners who have been trapped 700 metres below ground since August 5, after the tunnel they entered the mine through collapsed trapping the 33 men inside. The 33 men have been told it may be Christmas before they are rescued.
The 28 year-old World Cup Winner told how his own family come from a mining background and how he hopes the shirts will be a morale boost for the trapped men, which includes former Chilean Pro-Footballer Franklin Lobos.
Villa said:”I am part of the mining family and I share the concern of the relatives but everything will turn out well,”
“I wanted to let them know that I am with them, that all of us who know what it’s like in a mine are with them and that the whole world is watching them and supports them,” he added
