Dimitar Berbatov was the difference between these two bitter rivals as he scored an awesome Hat-Trick which should silence his critics for a while, his second goal must be a contender for goal of the season. (See Below)
United’s inability to hang on to a lead nearly cost them once more at Old Trafford after they threw away another two goal lead, with Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard grabbing a brace his first coming from the spot after Torres was fouled by Evans in the box, his second came from a free-kick which went through the United wall.
But it was Berbatov who had the last laugh when he headed home the winner with six minutes remaining in this highly entertaining five goal thriller. It was Berbatov’s second headed goal of the game but his second goal was pure class as he controlled a looping cross on his thigh before looping a spectacular bi-cycle kick over Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina before hitting the underside of the cross-bar and in, giving United a deserved three points.
Berbatov has repaid manager Alex Ferguson who has kept faith in him when others would have shipped the striker out. Berbatov has now scored 7 goals in 6 games so far this season which should silence his critics once and for all.
