Ninis began his apprenticeship at Apollon Smyrnis Academy before moving to the Panathiniakos Academy in 2003.
Ninis was hit with numerous injuries in the 2007-08 season and it was thought the reason behind those injuries was he played too many games at youth level. (Burn- out)
The 2008-09 season saw Ninis establish himself as a first team regular at Panathiniakos and he has now amassed 64 appearances scoring 6 goals so far for his current club. Watch his best goal below.
Ninis made his International debut in a 2-0 win against Cyprus where he scored the opening goal after five minutes becoming the youngest Greek player to score at Senior International level at the age of 18 years and 46 days.
In 2007 Ninis became the youngest player to appear for a Greek club in European competition against RC Lens.
In December 2007 he became the youngest player to win the Young Player of the Year in Greece.
Ninis also became the youngest ever player to captain Panathiniakos at the age of 18 years and 125 days.
