Wycombe’s manager for the 2010/11 season is Ex-Republic of Ireland Midfielder Gary Waddock (48).
Waddock made 21 appearances for the Boy’s in Green, scoring 3 times between 1980-90, he would probably doubled his appearances for the Republic only for a knee injury after which he spent over a year on the sidelines in 1985.
Waddock played for 6 different clubs in his career Queens Park Rangers 1979-87 and 1991-92, Charleroi 1987/89, Millwall 1989-91, Swindon (loan) 1992, Bristol Rovers 1992-94 and Luton Town 1994-98. The highlight of his club career when Tottenham defeated Q.P.R in the 1982 replayed F.A. Cup Final.
His two previous managerial posts, Q.P.R and Aldershot Town. He took the reigns at Q.P.R in a caretaker capacity in February 2006, when then manager Ian Holloway was suspended, he took up the post on a permanent basis in June 2006 following the sacking of Ian Holloway. However his reign was short-lived as he was replaced by former Wycome manager John Gregory in September 2006.
In May 2007 Waddock was appointed Aldershot Town manager, in his first season in charge Aldershot won the Conference Cup beaten Rushden & Diamonds in the Final, they also finished top of the National Conference with a record 101 points and gained promotion to League Two.
And in October 2009 following the sacking of Peter Taylor, Waddock was named Wycombe manager, Wycombe were deep in relegation trouble at the time and Waddock couldn’t prevent the team from relegation from League Two. But what the fans appreciated about the team last term was they never gave up on survival despite how difficult the task was, let’s hope they can make a swift return to League One this season.
