Javier Hernandez – Manchester United
Alex Ferguson looks set to give the young Mexican a valid chance to prove himself in in the first team this season. Having scored against EPL Champions Chelsea and World Cup Champions Spain in the last week, it seems that he might just bring a different dimension to the Man Utd attack. Another addition to “Young Trafford“!
Joe Cole – Liverpool
Having been given a totally new lease of life to revamp his career, Joe Cole is sure to play a big role in whatever Liverpool do this season. Steven Gerard last week compared the former West Ham and Chelsea midfielder as being as good as Lionel Messi. Big words!
Andrew Carroll – Newcastle
Fiery Newcastle striker Andrew Carroll seems primed and ready to battle it out with the big guns in the EPL, that is of course as long as he can stay out of trouble off the field! He has had several high profile training ground bust-ups, including one that saw teammate Steven Taylor end up with a broken jaw. Having scored 19 goals in 42 games last season, I expect him to have a presence this season.
Scott Parker – West Ham
With a few new signings and an end finally in-sight to the injury list, West Ham look like a team that might finish above mid-table this season. But a lot is going to rest on the shoulders of Scott Parker. The midfielder pretty much kept the Hammers in the Premier League last season and there are large expectations on his shoulders, with Fabio Capello also viewing him as a future leader in the middle of England’s midfield.
Kenwyne Jones – Stoke
Having splashed out a record £8million for the domineering Trinidad & Tobago striker, Stoke City manager Tony Pulis will be expecting a big return from Jones. One of the primary reasons Jones has been brought to Stoke is for his powerful presence, an asset that is sure to compliment Rory Delap’s long throw ins. With 26 goals in his Premiership career, this could be a great signing!
Marouane Chamakh – Arsenal
If there is one area that Arsenal needed a summer signing it was up top! Having sold Eduardo, and with Van Persie so prone to injury, Arsene Wenger knew he needed a top class goalscorer. Chamakh comes to Arsenal from Bordeaux where he scored 56 goals in 230 appearances. If he can strike up a partnership with Van Persie, with Arshavin and Fabregas just behind them, Arsenal could score a boat-load of goals this season!
