Shamrock Rovers assistant coach Wayne Deans, 30, was busted for £70,000 worth of cocaine, after a Garda tip-off.
Gardai called to Deans house in Tallaght, with a search warrant after the tip-off. When Gardai arrived to the house the front door was open so they entered the house to find £70,000 of cocaine on Deans kitchen table.
The Court also heard his wife was in the house at the time of the raid, while his children were outside playing. Gardai also found bags and a weighing scales on his premises.
Deans admitted he was cutting and packing the coke in return in return for several ounces of the substance for his own use.
The Court was also told Deans was active with several soccer clubs including Shamrock Rovers, where he is a volunteer trainer and assistant manager.
Deans played football up until two years ago when he had to retire after a serious ankle injury. After leaving the game he started to hang around with the wrong crowd and got addicted to cocaine.
Judge Katherine Delahunt adjourned sentencing until later this month, but said she believed him to be “high up the ladder” and was “actively involved with the distrubution of drugs”.
