Two time GAA All-Star Legend Dermot Earley has passed away after bravely battling an illness for a number of months.
Dermot Snr won his All-Stars while playing for his native Roscommon. He was also heavily involved in Kildare GAA for a number of years, with his son Dermot Jnr. being the Lilywhites hero for the last few years playing in the midfield position.
Dermot Snr. was also a great servant for his Country Serving for the Defence Forces since 1965, and he became one of the first soldiers to become an Elite Ranger, among his posts were Lebanon and he also spent four years in at the United Nations HQ in New York.
Irish Taoiseach Brian Cowen led the tributes for the great man saying: ‘” Dermot Earley was one of this Countries most distinguished public servents. He brought great distinction to himself, his family and Ireland”.
GAA President Christy Cooney also paid tribute to him by saying: “Lieutenent Dermot Earley made an immense contribution to the GAA Association.
Dermot Snr. is survived by his mother Kitty, Wife Mary and children Dermot Jnr. David, Conor, Paula, Anne-Marie and Noelle.
