North Korea will go in to the 2010 World Cup Finals as a virtually unknown squad. They only appeared at one previous World Cup Finals in England ’66,when they caused one of the biggest upsets in World Cup history when beating Italy1-0, and only losing to a Eusebio lead Portuguese side who came from 3-0 down in the Quarter Finals to win 5-3.
ITV commentator Clive Tyldesley admits he has no information on the North Koreans, as they are so secretive with their squad.
He said: “In the Internet age, you can learn everything you would ever want to know about 31 Finalists- but almost nothing about the 32nd. It’s such a secretive nation. The person commentating on their opening match against Brazil’s going to be faced by a team of which he knows very little.
The only good news for Clive is I can’t see them playing anymore than three games at the Finals as they are Grouped with Brazil, Portugal and the Ivory Coast.
North Korean players to watch out for are striker Jong Tae-Sae who has scored 14 goals in 21 appearances for his Country, another to watch is midfielder Kim Yong-Jun who gets his own fair share of the goals.
