As expected Wayne Rooney was named PFA Player of the Year, becoming the first Englishman since Steven Gerrard in 2006 to receive the award.
Rooney also became the fourth consecutive United player to claim the prize, after previous United players Ryan Giggs and Cristiano Ronaldo twice.
Rooney also commented on manager Sir Alex Ferguson’s guidance and assurances that helped him achieve his success.
Aston Villa’s James Milner claimed the Young Player of the Year award and deservedly so, he has shown why he should be an England regular with some awesome displays for Villa this season.
The PFA Team of the Year was also named as follows:
Joe Hart (Birmingham City) On- loan from Man City for the season has shown he should be Englands number 1, after helping Birmingham achieve respectable mid-table position.
Branislav Ivanovic (Chelsea) Chelsea full-back Ivanovic has been the only Chelsea Defender this season to have shown consistent form this term.
Tomas Vermaelen (Arsenal) Started the season in goal-scoring form and was one of Wenger’s decent signings this year.
Richard Dunne (Aston Villa) Biggest bargain since Cantona moving to United, Dunne has been a commanding figure at the heart of the Villa defence, Man City’s biggest blunder, letting him go.
Patrick Evra (Man Utd) United’s full-back has shown his attacking prowess this year, has been inspirational for United.
Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal) Arsenal’s inspirational skipper, has been best midfielder this season, Arsenal will do well to keep him at the Emirates next season.
James Milner (Aston Villa) Young Player of the Year, has been inspirational this season in the Villa midfield, should be an England regular.
Darren Fletcher (Man Utd) Shown why Fergie insisted on keeping him at Old Trafford, has great energy and drives United on, his heart is big as a Lion.
Antonio Valencia (Man Utd) Valencia settled in at United rather quickly, and the winger is improving with every game , watch him next season.
Didier Drogba (Chelsea) This guy has been awesome all season, has a great touch, strength and pace, all round top player.
Wayne Rooney (Man Utd) Has been banging in goals all season for both club and country has it all, could lead England to World Cup glory someday. PFA Player of the Year 2010.
