With the Aintree Grand National fast approaching, here’s some Tips and Pointers and getting that elusive winner of the Greatest steeple chase in the world.
I have a bet on the GG’s nearly everyday, but I don’t claim to be an expert of any kind. But here’s my tips on picking the Aintree Grand National winner.
The Grand National will be held on the 15th April at Aintree this year. Most people view it as a lottery, perhaps there right, but I don’t think it is a lottery. Perhaps these tips will sway you to my way of thinking. Right here we go.
The National is run over 4miles 4furlongs ( 8 furlongs in a mile) with 30 fences to jump along the way. Its one of the longest run races in the UK Calender.
Here’s the Stats:
1. Recent winners have won over 3 miles in their careers. The last horse to do any different was Gay Tip in 1970.
2. Recent winners have run at least 10 times over Steeplechase fences. The last to do it in less was Minnehoma in 1994, he had 9 outings over Steeplechase fences.
3. The last horse to carry more than 11st 01lbs and win the National was Corbiere in 1983.
4. The last fifteen winners have won a race previously with more than 11 runners in that race.
5. The last horse over 12 years old to win the National was Sergeant Murphy in 1923.
6. The last seven year old to win the National was Bogskar in 1940.
7. 47 horses outside the 8-12 year- old bracket have failed to win the National, 6th place being the best finish.
8. Tony McCoy has never won the National.
If you fancy a bet in the National, follow these tips and you won’t be far away from picking the winner, or if you don’t fancy having to eliminate the horses. Visit this site on the Thursday before the National and I will be giving my tips on the horses I fancy.
