Tonight turned out to be a pretty sweet evening for Sir Alex Ferguson, as his Manchester United squad marched into the quarter finals of the Champions League with an emphatic 4-0 thumping of AC Milan. Real Madrid and their $350 million star studded team, on the other hand, fell to French side Lyon, a team who are currently struggling for form in Ligue 1. Cristiano Ronaldo and Co. piled forward in the final 15 minutes to try get the 2 goals they needed to advance, but there was no way through. So, it seems that with $90 million in his pocket and a Champions League quarter final appearance to prepare for, Sir Alex might have a little smirk on his face knowing the Galacticos will have to sit and watch for the remainder of the tournament. Cristiano Ronaldo desperately wanted a move away from Old Trafford, to play with his favorite boyhood team, yet he might now just be regretting the move a little.
David Beckham made his first appearance at Old Trafford in tonights game since leaving the Manchester United. Beckham was warmly greeted by the United fans and did have one really good effort shortly after coming off the bench. But he might be another of those players that would prefer to still be playing for the Red Devils!
