And as Peter,29, prepares for the World Cup with England this summer he said he had to toughen up to get to the top. He said: “I was too nice. I’ve had to be ruthless. I’ve had knocks. On the pitch, you’ve got to be a different character.”
It must have been a tall order for the 6ft 7in star.
