With just nine days left to back that elusive winner of the Irish Grand National here are my tips and pointers to picking the winner, bit like an elimination process really narrowing down the field.
I’m not an expert on this subject, then again there’s not too many racing experts out there some people like to make out there experts but be very careful many are not who they say they are.
I’ll begin by telling you that I’m not a trainer owner or jockey, I’m just a regular punter, with what I’m about to tell should help to narrow down the field of this wonderful race. Helping you find that important winner. Right lets get started.
The Irish Grand National will be run at Fairyhouse on Easter Monday April 5th, it’s run over 3 miles, 5 furlong. It’s the biggest race on the Irish jump race calender with horses having to jump over 23 obstacles which is why you need to have a good jumper to finish the race.
Important facts on narrowing down the field:
1. Recent winners have been between the ages of 7 and 11 year old.
2. The last winner under seven years old was in 1985 the horse Rhyme ‘n’ Reason.
3. The last horse over eleven years old was in 1978 the horse Brown Lad.
4. The last horse to carry top-weight, which is 12 stone, and win the race was Flashing Steel in 1995.
5. The last nine winners have carried less than 11 stone.
6. The most successful current jockey is Ruby Walsh with two winners.Commanche Court in 2000, Numbersixvalverde in 2005.
I hope these facts have helped you out and good luck in backing the winner of this wonderful race. Don’t forget this race is sponsored by Paddy Power Bookmakers and they will have the best prices up on this race, you can actually get a FREE £20 BET
right now. Feel free to share this to your friends and family you never know it might help them pick the winner. Watch out for my Aintree Grand National tips and pointers coming soon.
