A pair of football boots worn by Sir Stanley Matthew’s in 1953 FA Cup Final have been sold at auction for £38,400.
The boots went under the hammer at auctioneers Bonhams, in Chester. They were only expected to fetch in the region of £8,000.
The football LEGEND helped Blackpool to a 4-3 victory over Bolton Wanderers in the 1953 Final. That final is still remembered as the Stanley Matthews FA Cup Final, which he was outstanding in, inspiring his team to a victory after being 3-1 down.
He gave the boots to one of his fans, Wilf Coomer,after the historic victory and they were only recently unearthed.
